Excise raid in Auraiya seizes illegal liquor, destroys brewing material

Excise department officer Gaurav Mishra has intensified his crackdown on illegal liquor operations in Auraiya district, leading a raid on Pachhaiyan Basti locality that resulted in the seizure of contraband and destruction of brewing material.

Acting on orders from the Uttar Pradesh Excise Commissioner and the District Magistrate of Auraiya, a special drive against illegal liquor is currently underway in Auraiya district. As part of this campaign, the Auraiya excise team along with the Kanpur enforcement team conducted a raid at Pachhaiyan Basti in Banarsi Das Mohalla on 09/09/2026.

During the raid, officials recovered 35 litres of illegal raw liquor from the spot. The teams also destroyed 400 kilograms of lahan, the brewing material used in the manufacture of illicit liquor, at the location itself.

Two cases have been registered under the relevant sections of the Excise Act following the operation.

Alongside the enforcement action, officials conducted a public awareness campaign. They advised residents not to consume liquor obtained from illegal sources and informed them about the health hazards and loss of life that can result from drinking such illicit alcohol.
