District Magistrate uncovers attendance lapses during surprise school inspection in Shravasti

District Magistrate Annapurna Garg conducted a surprise inspection of Primary School Bhitthi in Shravasti on Friday, uncovering serious irregularities in school operations that contradict recent claims made by the Basic Education Department. The sudden visit exposed lapses in student attendance, teacher presence, and administrative record-keeping at the government-run institution.

During the inspection, Garg expressed strong displeasure over the low attendance of students and reprimanded the head teacher for the lapse. She ordered strict action against a teaching assistant who had been absent from duty for several days without valid reason. The DM also discovered discrepancies between the attendance register and the VHSND register, further aggravating her concern about the school's functioning.

Garg took time to assess the quality of education being delivered to the children. She questioned students to gauge their learning levels and commended a student named Aman for answering correctly, patting him on the back in appreciation. The inspection revealed that the mid-day meal was being served according to the prescribed menu, which drew positive remarks from the district chief.

While the overall cleanliness of the school premises was found satisfactory, the toilets were in poor condition. The DM issued strict instructions to the head teacher to ensure proper cleaning and maintenance of the sanitation facilities. The surprise inspection is part of ongoing efforts by the district administration to improve the standard of primary education and ensure accountability in government schools.
