District Magistrate finds attendance gaps, irregularities at Shravasti primary school

District Magistrate Annpurna Garg conducted a surprise inspection of Primary School Bhitthi under the Hariharpurrani development block in Shravasti on August 25, 2026. During the visit, she examined teaching quality, student attendance records, and the overall functioning of the school, expressing serious displeasure over several irregularities discovered during the inspection.

The District Magistrate found that head teacher Arvind Kumar and Shiksha Mitra Ramkali Devi were present at the school, but Shiksha Mitra Radhadevi had been absent for several days. Garg immediately ordered disciplinary action against the absent teacher. She thoroughly reviewed the student attendance register and discovered significant discrepancies between enrolled students and actual attendance. When she cross-checked the attendance register with the VHFSS register, she found further inconsistencies in the recorded numbers of students present.

The District Magistrate expressed strong displeasure at these discrepancies and reprimanded the head teacher present at the school. She issued strict instructions to ensure 100 percent student attendance and warned that such lapses would not be tolerated in the future. Garg also interacted with the students, encouraging them to attend school regularly and on time every day.

To assess the quality of education being imparted, the District Magistrate asked a Class 4 student named Aman to solve addition and subtraction problems on the blackboard. When the student correctly solved the questions, she appreciated him by patting his back and motivated him to continue studying with dedication. She also spoke with the children about the midday meal program to gather feedback on the school's facilities and services.
