Shravasti, August 17, 2026: In light of the rising water levels of the Rapti River and ongoing monsoon rains, the district administration in Shravasti has ramped up preparations to tackle potential flood emergencies. District Magistrate Annapurna Garg and Superintendent of Police Rahul Bhati conducted an on-site inspection of the flood shelter established at Kisan Degree College in Laxman Nagar under Jamunaha tehsil.

During the visit, the District Magistrate reviewed arrangements for the accommodation, safety, health, and food provisions for people who may be affected by floods. She issued strict instructions to the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and other departmental officials present to ensure that citizens face no inconvenience in case of an emergency. Garg emphasized the need for adequate supplies of clean drinking water through tankers and chlorine tablets. She directed that the shelter must have round-the-clock access to first aid teams, life-saving medicines, anti-venom vaccines, and ORS packets.

To ensure the well-being of affected families, Garg instructed officials to provide cooked meals, dry ration items like puffed rice, gram, jaggery, and biscuits, along with uninterrupted electricity through generators and emergency lights. She also stressed the importance of arrangements for livestock, including sufficient fodder, animal feed, and necessary vaccinations.

The District Magistrate assured that the administration is fully prepared to handle any disaster situation, with the disaster control room operating 24/7. She urged residents to contact the district administration or the disaster helpline in case of emergencies.

The inspection was attended by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Ravi Pratap Singh, Tehsildar Jamunaha, and other departmental officials. The proactive measures highlight the administration’s commitment to safeguarding the community during the monsoon season.
