District Magistrate cancels 1,500 pending firearms license applications in Pratapgarh

District Magistrate Abhishek Pandey has cancelled approximately 1,500 pending firearms license applications in Pratapgarh after a review found that the files did not meet government-mandated standards and required procedures. The applicants, who had been waiting for a long time, will now have to apply afresh.

The cancellation came after the DM ordered a review of a large number of firearms license files that had been pending for a long time in the district. During the scrutiny and examination, it was found that these files did not fulfill the standards and necessary procedures laid down by the government. Deficiencies were discovered in the documents, prompting the administration to take this action.

Applicants for firearms licenses are required to complete the prescribed procedure and then submit their files at the arms office located in the Collectorate. After submission, the concerned officials examine the application and documents. The license issuance process moves forward based on the report.

In the examination of the pending applications, the files of approximately 1,500 applicants were found to have incomplete government-mandated standards. In many cases, essential documents were missing and deficiencies related to procedure also came to light. Due to these shortcomings, District Magistrate Abhishek Pandey issued orders to cancel the concerned pending files. This administrative action has dealt a blow to around 1,500 applicants who had been waiting for their firearms licenses for a long time.

Those whose files have been cancelled will now have to apply for firearms licenses from scratch. For this, they will have to fulfill the prescribed standards along with submitting the necessary documents and completing other formalities. The administration has stated that this action was taken with the objective of clearing pending files and streamlining the process.
