Amid heightened political activity in Madhya Pradesh, the Congress has stepped up efforts to strengthen its organisation and increase the party’s activity at the grassroots level. A review meeting of the organisation was held at the Pradesh Congress Committee headquarters in Bhopal under the leadership of Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari.

The meeting took place on Friday and focused on the activities of the Jabalpur, Sagar, Narmadapuram and Indore divisions. The party discussed its preparations for the coming period and reviewed the organisational position across these four divisions.

The meeting was attended by organisation general secretary Sanjay Kamle, Pradesh general secretary Gaurav Raghuvanshi, and the district presidents, district in-charges, assembly in-charges and senior office-bearers from all four divisions.

The Congress reviewed organisational activities at the district and assembly levels. Discussions covered the participation of workers, the organisation’s progress reports and the way different responsibilities were being carried out.

The leaders also discussed steps to improve coordination between the different levels of the organisation. The meeting focused on ensuring that programmes decided by the party are completed on time and implemented effectively.

The review meeting has assumed political importance because the BJP is preparing to launch its ‘लोकतंत्र बचाओ-भीड़तंत्र हटाओ’ campaign from 24 February. Through this campaign, the BJP plans to present its position before the public in response to Congress protests and activities directed against the government.

Against this political backdrop, the Congress is working to sharpen its organisational preparations. The party’s focus is on keeping its workers active, raising local issues effectively and strengthening the organisation’s presence among the public.

However, the available information does not confirm any formal announcement of a specific counter-campaign by the Congress. The meeting was centred on organisational review, worker participation, local-level activity and the implementation of the party’s programmes.

Addressing office-bearers and workers, Jitu Patwari called for continuous activity at the district, assembly and booth levels. He instructed them to take their organisational responsibilities seriously, increase public contact and speed up work according to the planned action programme.

Patwari also stressed the need for a dedicated work approach to strengthen the organisation. He said that continuous dialogue at the grassroots level was necessary for the party to remain connected with the public.

The Congress wants to raise local problems and public-interest issues more strongly. It also aims to expand the organisation’s reach among ordinary people through regular activity and contact at the local level.

The meeting of leaders from the four divisions gave the Congress an opportunity to assess its preparations at the district and assembly levels. The party now faces the task of converting the issues discussed in the meeting into action on the ground.

The organisation’s activities, public-contact programmes and the party’s approach to issues related to the government are expected to remain the focus of Congress activity in the coming days.

For the Congress, the central focus of the strategy is to activate the organisation at the booth level and strengthen its presence among the public by raising issues related to public interest. The review meeting in Bhopal was held with this organisational objective in mind.
