CM Yogi Lays Foundation for SAEL's Solar Manufacturing Plant in Jewar
SAEL Industries will invest Rs 8,200 crore to build a 5 GW solar cell and 5 GW solar module facility at Jewar in Uttar Pradesh, creating 20,000 jobs.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday laid the foundation stone for SAEL Industries' integrated solar manufacturing facility in Jewar, Gautam Buddh Nagar, marking a major step in the company's clean energy push.
The project is being developed by SAEL Solar P6 Private Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the vertically integrated renewable energy company. The ground-breaking ceremony was attended by UP Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna, Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta 'Nandi', Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh, and the CEO of Noida International Airport Limited, along with senior officials and industry leaders.
SAEL Industries co-founder and director Sukhbir Singh said the company is setting up a 5 GW solar cell and 5 GW solar module manufacturing unit with an initial investment of Rs 8,200 crore. "This is not just an infrastructure investment; it will give India self-reliance in the energy sector," he said, thanking the state government and YEIDA.
CEO and Executive Director Laxit Awla said the Jewar project reflects confidence in the future of renewable energy in India and in Uttar Pradesh as a manufacturing destination. As demand for indigenous solar products rises, the unit will strengthen India's solar supply chain.
Spread over 200 acres in Sector 8 of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority area, the plant will form a 10 GW solar manufacturing ecosystem once operational. The facility is expected to create 5,000 direct and 15,000 indirect jobs, and will produce high-efficiency solar cells and TopCon modules using advanced technology.
