CM Vijay to Chair Tamil Nadu Cabinet Meeting on October 29

Tamil Nadu’s third Cabinet meeting, headed by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, is scheduled to be held at the Secretariat in Chennai on October 29.

The meeting is expected to take up several key policy decisions, including industrial and investment proposals, according to official sources.

The proceedings will commence at 10.30 a.m. on Thursday, with the Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues expected to discuss and approve the proposals.

Industrial proposals and new legislation

The Cabinet is also likely to consider new legislation and amendments to existing laws.

The discussions assume importance as the next session of the Assembly is expected to be held before the end of this year.

Sources indicated that key proposals relating to Battery Energy Storage Systems, or BESS, are likely to be taken up during the meeting.

The Cabinet is expected to deliberate on the implementation of new welfare schemes outlined in the ‘Vetri Tamizhagam Vision Document’.

It is also likely to review some ongoing infrastructure projects, among other matters.

Earlier Cabinet decisions

At its first meeting on June 5, the Cabinet headed by Mr. Vijay approved 436 vision statements under the ‘Vetri Tamizhagam Vision Document’.

The statements encompassed several poll promises made by the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, or TVK, ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.

The upcoming meeting could therefore include discussions on proposals linked to those approved vision statements, along with the industrial, legislative, welfare and infrastructure matters identified by sources.

Mr. Vijay chaired the second Cabinet meeting on July 16, ahead of the presentation of the 2026-27 Tamil Nadu Budget.
