According to police, the gang was planning to break into a closed house or shop when they were apprehended on August 21 following a tip-off from an informer.

The arrests were made near the tin boundary of a lawyer's farmhouse on the road leading to Vijaana village. All six accused are residents of various police station areas in Baghpat district.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that they had stolen the recovered tractor on the night of August 16-17 from near the Grameen Bank on Budhana-Kandhla road in Jaula village. They admitted they were planning to use this tractor to carry out a dacoity at some closed house or shop.
