The Bharatiya Human Rights Initiative for the Marginalized (BHIM) organised a special human rights training programme at 93, South Avenue, President’s Estate, New Delhi, on 26 September 2026, bringing together participants from the academic and legal fields.
The programme was attended mainly by academicians, professors, teachers and practising advocates. It was organised on the theme “For Justice, For Equality, For a Better Tomorrow” and focused on building both conceptual understanding and practical capacity in the field of human rights.
According to the press note, the objective of the programme was to familiarise participants not only with the understanding of human rights, but also with the practical process of presenting human rights complaints and petitions before the relevant institutions. The sessions were designed to connect the academic study of human rights with the procedures followed in actual complaint filing and institutional redress.
The programme began with a high tea welcome reception. After the lighting of the lamp, three training sessions were conducted on different subjects related to human rights.
In the first session, Shri Debindra Kundra, former Assistant Registrar (Law), National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), gave a detailed presentation on the different classifications of human rights violations. He also explained the procedure for filing human rights petitions and complaints. The session included discussion on both the academic and practical aspects of human rights law, giving the participants an overview of how human rights concerns are understood, categorised and taken forward through formal processes.
The second session was conducted by Shri Amit Kumar Sharma, System Analyst, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). He provided practical training on the online filing of human rights complaints and the process through which such complaints are handled. Participants were informed about how to register complaints through the online portal, the different stages of a complaint, and the related procedural aspects. The session focused on helping participants understand the digital process involved in submitting and tracking human rights complaints.
In the final session of the programme, Dr. Om Prakash Vyas, Chairperson, Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights (DCPCR), and former Joint Registrar (Law)-In-charge, National Human Rights Commission, held an interactive question-and-answer session with the participants. During this session, various questions were discussed relating to human rights protection, the institutional framework for grievance redressal, and the role of advocates and academicians in the effective protection of human rights.
The programme provided a shared platform for professionals connected with the academic world and the legal field. Participants exchanged views on practical and procedural issues linked to human rights protection and received guidance from experts who have worked closely with human rights institutions and related processes.
BHIM said the occasion reaffirmed its commitment to increasing awareness about human rights, strengthening access to justice, and protecting the rights of deprived and vulnerable sections of society.
