Bahraich temples see huge crowds for Nag Panchami celebrations

Bahraich witnessed a massive turnout of devotees at temples today, marking the twin occasions of Nag Panchami and the third Monday of the holy month of Sawan. From the early hours, worshippers gathered at the ancient Siddhnath Temple, believed to date back to the Pandava era, to offer prayers and perform the traditional 'jalabhishek' to Lord Shiva.

Mahant Mahamandaleshwar Ravi Giri Maharaj, the head priest of the temple, extended his greetings to all Shiva devotees on Nag Panchami. Speaking to the congregation, he emphasized the spiritual significance of the day and encouraged devotees to seek blessings for peace and prosperity.

The local administration ensured tight security arrangements to manage the large crowds and maintain order during the festivities. Officials were stationed at key locations around the temple premises, and measures were taken to facilitate smooth movement for devotees.

Nag Panchami, celebrated with great enthusiasm across India, holds special significance in Sawan, a month dedicated to Lord Shiva. The day is marked by rituals honoring snakes, which are considered sacred in Hindu mythology, alongside prayers to Lord Shiva for his blessings.

The combination of Nag Panchami and Sawan's third Monday made it an especially auspicious day for devotees, leading to an overwhelming turnout at temples not just in Bahraich but across the region.
