The accused, identified as Mauji Lal, son of Ram Pal, and Ravi Soni, son of Nankau, both residents of Tikora Mod area under Kotwali Dehat police station in Bahraich district, were apprehended following a coordinated operation by the local police team.
The arrests stem from two separate theft incidents that occurred in Piparia Mahipal Singh village under Ranipur police station jurisdiction. The first burglary took place on the night of August 12-13, 2026, while the second occurred on August 21, 2026. Complaints were filed by Mansharam Maurya, son of Hiralal Maurya, and Roshan Lal Dwivedi, son of Girwar Dwivedi, both residents of the village. Based on their written statements, cases numbered 150/2026 and 157/2026 were registered under sections 305A, 331(4), and 62 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Vishwajit Srivastava, Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Ayush Vikram Singh, and Circle Officer Payagpur Harshita Tiwari. Station House Officer Harendra Nath Rai led the ground team that successfully cracked the cases and nabbed the accused.
Police recovered substantial evidence from the suspects, including four mangalsutras of different varieties, one necklace with string, two nose pins, a pair of earrings, one white metal ingot made by melting jewelry, and cash amounting to 2,000 rupees. A motorcycle was also seized from their possession. Mauji Lal has a previous criminal record with a case registered against him in 2024 under section 304 of the Indian Penal Code at Ranipur police station. Both accused have been sent to court for further legal proceedings. The arrest team comprised seven police personnel led by Sub-Inspector Ramkesh.
