Anti-Romeo squad conducts safety awareness session for women in Pratapgarh village

The Anti-Romeo squad of Kandhai police station in Pratapgarh district on Sunday organized an awareness session for women and girls under the Bahu-Beti Sammelan initiative at Pragaspur village. The outreach program, conducted under the supervision of Pratapgarh Superintendent of Police, aimed to sensitize local women and adolescent girls about safety measures and welfare schemes available to them.

During the interactive session, the Anti-Romeo team addressed critical issues concerning the safety and protection of women and children. The officers cautioned participants against hasty decisions and their potentially harmful consequences, while also discussing suicide prevention. Detailed information was provided about the POCSO Act and preventive measures against crimes targeting children, equipping attendees with knowledge to protect themselves and their families.

A significant portion of the program was dedicated to informing women and girls about emergency helpline numbers for immediate assistance. These included the Women Power Line 1090, Chief Minister Helpline 1076, Police Emergency Service 112, Child Helpline 1098, Health Services 102 and 108, and the Cyber Helpline 1930. The team emphasized the importance of saving these numbers for quick access during emergencies.

The officers also briefed participants about various government welfare schemes designed to empower women and support families. These included the Skill Development Scheme, Uttar Pradesh Kanya Sumangala Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Destitute Women Pension Scheme, and the Chief Minister Mass Marriage Scheme. The team listened to problems and queries raised by the women and girls present, providing necessary guidance and counseling.
