Aligarh SSP responds to trolling over uniform controversy with emotional plea

Aligarh Senior Superintendent of Police Neeraj Jadaun has opened up about the personal toll of relentless social media trolling following a controversy over dress code norms for the weekly orderly room parade. In an emotional handwritten note shared on his X handle, the officer clarified his position on the uniform requirements and expressed distress over abusive comments directed at him online.

The controversy erupted after social media posts alleged that constables were being forced to spend approximately 3,500 rupees on cotton uniforms and other arrangements for attending the orderly room that follows the Friday parade. Some users posted derogatory remarks accusing Jadaun of treating subordinates like slaves and acting like royalty. The SSP stressed that attendance at the orderly room after Friday parade is part of established procedure, and cotton uniforms are the prescribed dress code for the occasion.

Jadaun made it clear that he neither created these rules nor has the authority to change them. He wrote that he has never attempted to behave like a king but has only tried to perform his duties honestly and in accordance with regulations. The officer revealed that the impact of the vulgar trolling is reaching his family members, causing them distress as well.

In a poignant conclusion to his message, Jadaun stated that the day he feels he is unable to do justice to his job, he will resign without hesitation. His note ended with the words "I AM ALSO A HUMAN BEING" in English, underscoring his appeal for basic dignity and understanding. The incident highlights the growing challenge public officials face from unverified accusations and personal attacks on social media platforms, even when following standard administrative protocols.
