Aligarh police arrest wanted robbery suspect with 10,000 rupee bounty on head

Police in Aligarh district have arrested a wanted robbery suspect who carried a reward of 10,000 rupees on his head, recovering 1,830 rupees in stolen cash from his possession at the time of his capture.

The accused, identified as Salman son of Tajmohammad, resident of Thanda Nala Gularbhoj Kopa Kripali under Gadarpur police station jurisdiction in Udham Singh Nagar district of Uttarakhand, was apprehended by the Rorawer police station team from the Rorawer police station area in Aligarh. He was wanted in connection with case number 289/25 registered under sections 309(4) and 317(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The original incident dates back to 03.07.2026, when the accused allegedly robbed a woman of her gold earrings and cash. Based on the complaint filed by the victim, case number 289/25 was registered under section 309(4) of the BNS at Rorawer police station. Following the recovery of the stolen money during the arrest, section 317(2) of the BNS was added to the case, and further legal proceedings have been initiated.

The arrested suspect has an extensive criminal history spanning multiple districts across Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. His record includes seven prior cases registered at various police stations. Apart from the current Rorawer case, he faces charges in case number 637/23 under sections 356 and 411 of the Indian Penal Code at Kotwali Sadar police station in Lakhimpur Kheri district, and case number 320/23 under sections 411 and 420 IPC at Ghazipur police station in Lucknow district.

His criminal record also shows involvement in arms-related offenses, including case number 169/21 under sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act at Narora police station in Bulandshahr district, and case number 579/21 under the same Arms Act sections at Kotwali police station in Farrukhabad district. He is additionally implicated in case number 581/21 under sections 399 and 402 IPC at Kotwali Nagar police station in Farrukhabad, and an earlier case number 464/17 under sections 394, 420, 467, 468 and 471 IPC at Kotwali City police station in Hardoi district.

The police operation that led to Salman's arrest was conducted by a team comprising Inspector-in-Charge Shri Ravi Chandrawal of Rorawer police station in Aligarh district, Sub-Inspector Shri Shubham Kumar of Rorawer police station, Sub-Inspector Shri Ritik Bansal of Rorawer police station, and Constable Varun Kumar of Rorawer police station.
