Agra's road collapse sparks protest over Smart City project failures

Agra: Political tensions have escalated in the Kamla Nagar area after a road caved in, exposing serious concerns over infrastructure quality. Samajwadi Party (SP) state secretary Nitin Kohli staged a unique protest by stepping into the crater to highlight the issue. Kohli criticized the Smart City project and questioned the administration's handling of development work, calling the incident a glaring example of corruption. "This isn't development; it's a sign of how corruption is turning Agra into 'Gaddha Nagar' (Crater City)," Kohli remarked.

The SP leader alleged that despite crores of rupees being spent on road construction, the quality remains substandard. He demanded immediate repairs to the damaged road and strict action against those responsible, including municipal officials, local MLAs, and councillors. Kohli warned that the caved-in road poses a serious risk to pedestrians and commuters, potentially leading to major accidents if left unaddressed.

The protest drew significant public attention, with large crowds gathering at the site. A video of Kohli’s demonstration has gone viral on social media, further amplifying the issue and sparking widespread debate about the state of infrastructure in Agra.
