Young man shot in Hamirpur over land dispute, critical condition

A young man was shot in Hamirpur district on Tuesday following a land dispute that escalated into violence. The incident occurred in the Mawai Jar area under the jurisdiction of the Bhinwar police station, creating panic among locals. The victim, who sustained a gunshot wound to his leg, was rushed to the district hospital in critical condition. After receiving initial treatment, he was referred to Kanpur for further medical care.

According to reports, the young man had gone to his field to assert his ownership over the land when the confrontation took place. Allegations have been made against members of his own family, who are accused of attempting to seize the land and resorting to firing during the altercation. The daylight shooting has left the community shaken.

Police arrived at the scene promptly after receiving information about the incident and have begun investigating the matter. Speaking about the case, Circle Officer (CO) Maudaha, Rajkumar Pandey, confirmed that a probe is underway to ascertain the details and take necessary action.
