A young man's body was recovered from a canal in Amethi approximately 18 hours after he jumped into the water following a family dispute.
A young man's body was recovered from a canal in Amethi approximately 18 hours after he jumped into the water following a family dispute.
The body was found in the canal near Gungemau in the Jagdishpur police station area this morning, about 2 kilometers away from the spot where the youth had initially jumped.
Before leaping into the canal, the young man had removed his mobile phone and slippers and left them on the bridge.
After receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and launched a search operation. Local divers and an SDRF team joined the effort, working late into the evening to locate the body in the canal.
Police have taken the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem examination. Legal proceedings in the matter are currently underway.
