Young man drowns in Sai River during bathing in Pratapgarh

A 24-year-old man drowned in the Sai River in Pratapgarh district after he went for a bath, triggering a major search operation by police and divers that continued late into the evening without success.

The incident took place near Pure Ishwarnath in the Kotwali Nagar police station area when the young man entered the deep waters of the river and did not resurface. Police reached the spot after receiving information and launched a search with the help of local divers.

The victim has been identified as Tikku Yadav alias Divyanshu Yadav, 24, son of Lalmani Yadav, a resident of Dharupur village in the Kotwali Dehat police station area. He had come to Pure Ishwarnath village to attend an invitation at a relative's house along with two boys from his own village, Deepak Gaur, 14, and Priyanshu Gaur, 12.

The three had reached the banks of the Sai River in the afternoon. While sitting under a mahua tree on the riverbank, Divyanshu said he was feeling hot. He then took off his clothes and went into the river to bathe. After some time passed and he did not come out of the river, the two teenagers raised an alarm and informed people in the vicinity about the incident.

Local residents immediately called the emergency number Dial 112 to report the incident. Upon receiving the information, Kotwali Nagar police reached the spot. Police summoned local divers and initiated a search for the young man in the river. Despite considerable efforts, no trace of Divyanshu had been found by the time this report was filed.

The police and diver teams remained continuously engaged in searching the area around the river. The young man's family members were also informed about the incident. His relatives reached the spot and stayed at the riverbank, anxiously waiting as the search for the youth continued. The incident caused panic in the area as news of the drowning spread.
