Woman dies in suspicious circumstances; father alleges dowry-related murder by in-laws

A young married woman has died under suspicious circumstances in Mullahedi village under Mansoorpur police station area of Muzaffarnagar, with her father alleging she was murdered by her in-laws over dowry demands. Aamluddin, a resident of Purbaaliyan, has submitted a complaint to the Senior Superintendent of Police accusing his daughter's in-laws of harassment, assault, and dowry-related torture.

According to the father, his daughter was married around six years ago and had been subjected to continuous harassment over insufficient dowry since the wedding. He has alleged that his daughter was beaten and thrown out of the house on August 15. The in-laws later apologized and took her back home.

Aamluddin claims that after returning to her marital home, his daughter informed him over the phone that she was being beaten and threatened with death. The very next day, he received a call from the in-laws informing him that his daughter had died due to electrocution. The father has termed the death suspicious and questioned the circumstances surrounding the incident.

He has demanded an impartial investigation into his daughter's death and registration of a formal case against the accused. The complaint also seeks legal action against the in-laws for the alleged dowry harassment and violence that preceded the young woman's death. The case adds to the growing concerns over dowry-related violence in Uttar Pradesh, where several similar incidents have been reported in recent months.

Police authorities are expected to examine the complaint and initiate proceedings based on the allegations made by the deceased woman's father. The post-mortem report and further investigation will likely determine whether criminal charges will be filed in the matter.
