Woman assaulted inside family court during hearing in Bulandshahr

A woman and her brother were allegedly assaulted inside the family court premises in Bulandshahr when they appeared for a scheduled court hearing, police said. The incident took place in Court Room Number 2 of the Family Court, where the woman had arrived with her brother for proceedings in a case she had filed against her husband and brother-in-law.

Neha Goyal, a resident of Sikandarabad, has accused her husband Himanshu and her brother-in-law Shivam of verbal abuse and assault. She has submitted a written complaint to Kotwali Nagar police station demanding legal action against both the accused.

According to Neha's account, she reached Court Room Number 2 of the Family Court around 11 in the morning on 7 September along with her brother Aman for the scheduled hearing. Her husband Himanshu and brother-in-law Shivam were also present there.

Neha has alleged that during the course of discussions while the date was being set, both Himanshu and Shivam put pressure on her to withdraw the case. During this time, Himanshu started making a video and began hurling abuses at Aman.

When Neha's brother and her lawyer protested, Himanshu allegedly started assaulting Aman. When Neha tried to protect her brother, Himanshu grabbed her hair and threw her to the ground, then beat her with kicks and punches, she has alleged. Neha has claimed that in the assault her kurta and dupatta were also torn.

According to Neha, Himanshu and Shivam together assaulted Aman as well. She has alleged that Himanshu bit Aman on the cheek and Shivam bit him above his left eye. This caused a serious injury near Aman's eye.

The noise during the assault drew a crowd to the spot. On receiving information, police also reached the venue and took one person into custody before taking Neha and her brother to the police station.

Aman was then sent to the district hospital for medical examination. Neha has demanded legal action against the accused from the police.
