Wire theft gang clashes with Muzaffarnagar police, one injured in encounter

A gang involved in wire theft clashed with police from Titawi station in Muzaffarnagar district early in the day, resulting in one criminal being injured in the police retaliatory action. The injured suspect, identified as Shahnawaz, sustained a bullet wound to his leg during the encounter and was immediately sent to hospital for medical treatment by the police.

Following the confrontation, the police team launched a combing operation in the surrounding area and succeeded in apprehending three more members of the gang. Those arrested have been identified as Junaid alias Shahrukh, Tahir, and Asif. According to police sources, the encounter broke out at daybreak when officers from Titawi police station came face to face with the wire theft gang.

During the course of arrests, police recovered a significant cache of items from the possession of the accused. The seized materials include two country-made pistols, one live cartridge, one empty cartridge shell, two motorcycles, and two knives. More importantly, investigating officers recovered over ten quintals of stolen wire from the suspects. Police also impounded a magic vehicle that was being used by the gang to transport the stolen wire to Delhi.

According to police information, among the arrested accused, Shahnawaz, Junaid alias Shahrukh, and Tahir are residents of Bhainsahedi under Chhappar police station jurisdiction, while Asif has been identified as a resident of Delhi. Police officials have stated that interrogation of the arrested individuals is underway to gather information about other wire theft incidents and other members associated with the gang. Further legal proceedings in the matter are being carried out by the police.
