Wanted Man Arrested in Pratapgarh Over Alleged Marriage-Promise Relationship Case

Dilipur police in Pratapgarh have arrested a wanted accused in a case involving an alleged relationship established on the promise of marriage. The accused was arrested from Naziyapur More at around 10:35 am on Thursday, 15 October 2026, police said.

The arrested man has been identified as Sandeep, son of Lallu alias Lalmani. He is a resident of village Donai, under Kotwali Patti police station, in Pratapgarh district. Police said his age is around 20 years.

According to the police, a case has been registered against Sandeep at Dilipur police station under Case Crime Number 173/2026. The case has been filed under Sections 69, 74, 115(2) and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, or BNS. He had been wanted in connection with the case.

Police said Sub-Inspector Nandu Yadav had gone out with a police team to maintain law and order in the area and search for wanted accused. During this operation, an informer told the police that the accused in the case was waiting for a vehicle at Naziyapur More.

After receiving the information, the police team reached the spot and surrounded the area. Sandeep was then arrested, police said. The action was carried out after the team received specific information about his presence at the location.

According to the police, during questioning, the accused said that he had been in a relationship with the complainant for around four years. Police further said that after learning that a case had been registered, he was trying to leave for another city because he feared arrest.

The police said further legal action in the case is being taken. The arresting team included Sub-Inspector Nandu Yadav, Constable Nirdosh Kumar and Reserve Constable Shivam Singh.

Police said the action was carried out under the campaign being conducted to arrest wanted accused. The campaign is being run under the direction of Pratapgarh Superintendent of Police Deepak Bhukar.
