Residents Protest to Reopen Primary School in Aligarh, End Demonstration After Assurance

Aligarh: Villagers from Karelia in Lodha area staged a protest on Wednesday morning, demanding the reopening of the local primary school that has been shut for some time. Around 40 to 50 residents, led by village Block Development Committee (BDC) member Yogendra Singh, gathered at the school premises to voice their concerns over the impact of the closure on children’s education.

The protest began at 8:45 AM and lasted for nearly two and a half hours. Villagers expressed frustration, stating that the school’s closure was disrupting the education of their children and urged authorities to take immediate action to resume operations.

Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, the school principal, Renu Mahawar, arrived at the site to address the protesters. She assured the villagers that a formal proposal to reopen the Karelia primary school would be sent to the Basic Education Officer (BSA) for approval.

Following this assurance, the protest came to a peaceful end at around 11:10 AM, with villagers dispersing and returning to their homes. The demonstration highlights the growing concern among rural communities about access to basic education facilities, which they see as essential for their children’s future.

The incident underscores the importance of timely intervention by education authorities to address such issues and ensure uninterrupted learning opportunities for children in underserved areas.
