Village road blocked after children allegedly beaten; caste slurs used against protester

A case has come to light from Chipai village in the Dilippur police station area of Pratapgarh district where a public road has been blocked and school children have been accused of being beaten up. Villager Sandeep Kumar has lodged a complaint with SDM Akanksha Joshi demanding action in the matter.

According to the complaint, the road is used by villagers as well as school children for commuting. It is alleged that on the morning of 10 September at around 7:30 am, children were going to school via the road when Ravish Yadav of the village and his wife Geeta stopped them. They abused and beat up the children and chased them away from there.

Sandeep Kumar has alleged that when he protested, he was threatened with death using caste-based slurs. The closure of the road is disrupting the education of children and causing difficulties to villagers in their daily movement.

After the incident, there is an atmosphere of anger in the village and fears are being expressed that the dispute may escalate further. The victim has demanded that the police investigate the matter, take appropriate legal action and get the road reopened. The complaint states that the obstruction of a public thoroughfare has created significant problems for the entire community, forcing children to take longer alternate routes to reach school and hampering the routine activities of residents who depend on this access for their daily needs.
