Village development stalled three months after new administrators appointed in UP

The National Panchayati Raj Organisation, Uttar Pradesh, submitted a memorandum to the Kanpur Dehat District Magistrate highlighting that development work in villages remains stalled even three months after outgoing Gram Pradhans were appointed as administrators by the state government.

The memorandum was submitted by the organisation's district minister Shailendra Singh, along with state general secretary Dinesh Chandra Mishra and other Pradhans. The delegation demanded immediate completion of the approval process for development works.

State general secretary Dinesh Chandra Mishra said that despite administrators being appointed in Gram Panchayats three months ago to fulfill the expectations of villagers in line with the state government's intention, development work has been virtually at a standstill. He pointed out that delays in administrative procedures and permissions are adversely affecting the government's image.

The organisation's letter stated that administrators were appointed to meet the aspirations of rural residents according to the state government's wishes, but development activities have remained almost completely halted over the past three months.

The memorandum demanded that payment be allowed quickly for works that have been completed as per the measurement book. It called for beneficiaries of compensation for homelessness due to excessive rainfall in 2025 under the Chief Minister Housing Scheme to be surveyed at the block level and provided houses under the scheme at an accelerated pace. The organisation also sought approval for new proposals to remove obstacles in development work.

The memorandum demanded an end to harassment of administrators in the name of investigations. Gram Pradhans present during the submission included Ashish Patel, Dinesh Kumar, Shailendra Singh, Mohammad Kasim, Shankar Singh, Santosh Kushwaha, Rakesh Kumar and Brijendra Singh.
