Varanasi illuminates streets for Eid-e-Milladunnabi celebrations on Wednesday

Varanasi will celebrate Eid-e-Milladunnabi, marking the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad, with devotion and enthusiasm on Wednesday. Muslim-majority neighborhoods across the city have been decorated with colorful lights and ornamental displays as communities prepare for religious gatherings and processions to honor the occasion.

Areas including Madanpura, Nai Sadak, Lohta, Ramnagar, Ardali Bazar, Pilikothi, Kakarmatta, and Rewari Talab have been adorned with festive lighting and decorations. Residents began celebrating Jashn-e-Charagan on Tuesday night itself, with many people venturing out onto the streets to admire the illuminated displays that have transformed the city's appearance.

The main procession, organized under the aegis of the Markazi Yaum-e-Nabi Committee, will commence late at night from Hadha Sarai. The route will wind through Naya Chauka, Chhatta Tale, Nariyal Bazar, Nai Sadak, Alkuraish Masjid, Sheikh Saleem Fatak, and Rahim Shah Baba Dargah before concluding at Banshidhar Katra. Traditional Natiya competitions will be held at the final venue, featuring participants from various areas showcasing their devotional poetry and recitations.

Due to ongoing road and drainage construction work in the Dalmandi area, some portions of the procession route have been altered. The organizing committee has coordinated with the administration to ensure alternative arrangements are in place so the event proceeds peacefully and in an orderly manner.

Police have deployed extensive security measures for the festival, with additional forces stationed in sensitive areas. Special traffic diversions have been implemented to maintain smooth flow throughout the procession route. On this occasion, messages of peace, brotherhood, and humanity will be emphasized, with special prayers offered for the progress and prosperity of the nation.
