Uttar Pradesh Inaugurates Bio Energy & Tech Expo to Boost Clean Energy

The India Bio Energy & Tech Expo (IBET Expo 2026) was inaugurated today at the India Expo Centre and Mart in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The event aims to accelerate clean energy, bioenergy, investment, and innovation in the state. Uttar Pradesh’s Urban Development and Energy Minister, A.K. Sharma, addressed participants, including experts, industry representatives, and investors from India and abroad, highlighting the state’s leadership in bioenergy and clean energy initiatives.

Minister Sharma noted that Uttar Pradesh leads the country in key areas such as the PM Surya Ghar scheme, compressed biogas (CBG) production, and record electricity supply. He invited investors to set up plants anywhere in the state, emphasizing the improved law-and-order situation under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, which has made Uttar Pradesh a peaceful and business-friendly destination.

Highlighting the state’s bioenergy potential, Sharma pointed out the abundance of agricultural residues, sugarcane production, organic waste, and solid urban waste that can be harnessed for clean energy. He stressed the need to view waste not as a problem but as an opportunity for energy, employment, and economic growth. Technologies like CBG, biogas, and waste-to-energy can support clean energy goals while boosting rural economies, farmers’ incomes, and job creation.

Adviser to the Chief Minister, Avnish Awasthi, described Uttar Pradesh as a rising force in India’s bioenergy transition, backed by strong policy support and vast agricultural resources. He highlighted plans to establish CBG equipment manufacturing units and centers of excellence to create new opportunities for youth. Additional Chief Secretary Ashish Kumar Goel emphasized the state’s commitment to turning biomass into energy and sustainable livelihoods, with 84 CBG and 8 bio-coal plants in the pipeline.

The expo, featuring over 150 national and international exhibitors, serves as a platform to showcase innovations in bioenergy and clean technology. Minister Sharma also launched the “India Bio Energy Compass” website, aimed at connecting stakeholders in the bioenergy sector. The IBET Expo 2026 is expected to drive clean energy adoption, rural employment, and economic growth in Uttar Pradesh, positioning the state as a leader in sustainable energy solutions.
