Ujjain Shahi Masjid Committee Removes Affected Portion For Road Widening

In Ujjain, the work to remove the affected portion of the historic Shahi Masjid, which falls within the road widening zone, continued with full preparedness for the second day on Tuesday.

The action is being carried out voluntarily by representatives of the mosque committee. Officials said the committee members themselves are taking forward the process of removing the part of the mosque that is affected by the widening work.

ADG Upendra Jain visited Chhatri Chowk and other affected locations to review arrangements and safety standards. During the inspection, an administrative team and a heavy police force were present at the site.

The shops built below the mosque had already been vacated on Monday night. On Tuesday morning, scaffolding was prepared outside the mosque so that the upper portion could be removed safely. After this, the demolition and removal work began.

To maintain peace and law and order in the area, a force of around 2000 police personnel has been deployed. Continuous monitoring is also being carried out through drone cameras.

Collector Roshan Kumar Singh said, “हमारा मुख्य उद्देश्य शांति और कानून व्यवस्था बनाए रखना है। इसमें हमें सभी धर्मों और समुदायों का पूर्ण सहयोग मिल रहा है। मस्जिद कमेटी स्वेच्छा से प्रभावित हिस्से को हटा रही है। सोशल मीडिया पर चल रही एआई-जनरेटेड (AI) या फर्जी फोटो-वीडियो से सतर्क रहें। किसी भी सामग्री पर विश्वास करने से पहले उसकी तथ्यात्मक पुष्टि जरूर करें। सोशल मीडिया पर हमारी पैनी नजर है, गलत कंटेंट फैलाने वालों पर सख्त कानूनी कार्रवाई होगी।”

Officials said the administration is keeping a close watch not only on the site but also on social media content related to the action. The appeal from the administration is that people should verify any photo, video or material before believing it or sharing it, especially in view of AI-generated or fake content.

Additional SP Guru Prasad Parashar said the action to remove the portions coming under encroachment and road widening is proceeding smoothly. He said there is peace across the entire area.

He also said that, from the security point of view, a force of 2000 personnel has been deployed and every activity is being monitored through technology, including drones. The administration and police remain present in the affected area as the voluntary removal work continues.
