TTD Plans Third Queue Complex to Ease Tirumala Pilgrim Wait Times

Tirupati: The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) is considering the construction of a third Vaikuntam Queue Complex to alleviate the difficulties faced by pilgrims during peak rush periods. With over 2.5 crore devotees visiting Tirumala annually, the existing infrastructure is often overwhelmed, particularly on weekends, festive occasions, and during summer holidays.

During these peak times, waiting periods for darshan frequently exceed 24 hours, with tens of thousands of devotees standing in long queues outside the current Vaikuntam Queue Complexes before gaining entry. While crowd management has improved during major events like Brahmotsavams and Vaikunta Ekadasi in recent years, the heavy footfall on weekends and during vacation periods continues to strain the facilities, leading to extended waiting times.

To address these challenges, TTD has been analyzing pilgrim footfall patterns through its integrated command control centre, established last year. Under the leadership of Additional Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary, experts have been studying both regular and irregular surges in pilgrim numbers. Their findings reveal that abnormal spikes in footfall occur on approximately 120–150 days each year due to various factors beyond fixed religious events.

This proposed third queue complex aims to enhance the overall experience for devotees and ensure smoother crowd management during these high-demand periods.
