Atma Nand Saraswati Ji Maharaj said that there are three main means of attaining God: Gyan Yoga, Karma Yoga and Bhakti Yoga. He made the statement during the Shrimad Bhagwat Katha being held near the railway station at Shri Shyam Baba Temple in Bahraich city.

The religious programme has reached its seventh day. Addressing the gathering, Swami Ji explained which person is considered eligible for each of the three paths.

He said that a person who completely gives up attachment to action, renounces the fruits of action and has developed detachment is eligible for Gyan Yoga. According to him, a person who remains attached to desire-driven yajna and worship is eligible for Karma Yoga.

Swami Ji further said that a person who has not yet attained complete detachment, still has some attachment to worldly enjoyments, and has faith in listening to the story of God, worship and pilgrimage, is eligible for Bhakti Yoga.

He said that devotion to God takes care of both the worldly life and the life after death. In Kaliyug, chanting God’s name and listening to the कथा are the simplest means of attaining God, he said.

Swami Ji also said that the knowledgeable devotee is most dear to God. He stated that Lord Krishna considered such a devotee his friend. A person who is Brahma-gyani, detached, has control over his senses and remains absorbed in the Self is called Sudama, he explained.

According to him, no great devotee like Sudama has appeared so far. After watching Sudama’s story and the tableau presented during the programme, all the devotees began celebrating with enthusiasm.

Swami Ji said that holding a Bhagwat Katha during Pitru Paksha is the best means for ancestors.

On the occasion, Swami Atma Prakash Jan Kalyan Samiti president Sumit Vineet Tekriwal, Lal Ji Sharma, Shiv Mangal Mishra, Pankaj Srivastava, Gopal Pathak and Tushar Rastogi were present, along with thousands of devotees.
