Sunit Chourasia Wins DP World PGTI NexGen Golf Tournament in Varanasi

Kolkata’s 31-year-old golfer Sunit Chourasia has triumphed once again, winning the DP World PGTI NexGen–Varanasi golf tournament on Friday. This marks his third consecutive title victory, solidifying his dominance in the tournament. Sunit finished with a total score of six-under 204 after carding a final-round score of 73, securing a comfortable four-stroke win.

This victory adds to an already stellar year for Chourasia. Earlier in March, he clinched the Alpha Sports Academy Golf Championship at Patna Golf Club. Just last week, he won the Vijay Kumar Memorial Tournament in Lucknow. With his latest win in Varanasi, Sunit has not only bagged Rs 3,17,875 in prize money but also emerged as the 2026 DP World PGTI NexGen Order of Merit champion. This achievement guarantees him a spot in the 2027 main DP World PGTI Tour.

The three-day tournament in Varanasi saw fierce competition, with players from across India showcasing their skills. Mukeem Ali from Mathura and Souvik Nayak from Kolkata finished as joint runners-up, both scoring two-under 208. Despite their strong performances, it was Chourasia who stood out with his consistent form throughout the season.

With total earnings of Rs 10,04,393 this season, Sunit Chourasia has established himself as one of the top names in Indian golf. His recent performances highlight not just his skill but also his ability to handle pressure in high-stakes tournaments. As he prepares for the 2027 main tour, all eyes will be on him to see if he can replicate this success on an even bigger stage.
