Shravasti private school accused of illegal fee collection, withholding student documents

A private school in Shravasti district is facing serious allegations of unauthorized fee collection and refusal to hand over student documents, prompting parents to approach the District Magistrate seeking immediate intervention. Sanchit Yadav, along with other affected parents and their children, submitted a formal complaint at the DM office demanding an impartial investigation into the school management's alleged malpractices.

According to the complaint, parents are being denied essential academic records including marksheets despite their children studying at the institution for two years. The documents are urgently needed for admission to Navodaya Vidyalaya, but the school management has repeatedly refused to provide them. This has left several families in distress as they face admission deadlines elsewhere.

The parents have also accused the school of collecting exorbitant and allegedly illegal fees. They claim to have paid approximately 36,000 rupees as tuition fees and an additional 24,000 rupees under the pretext of charges for notebooks and textbooks. The complainants allege these amounts far exceed prescribed norms and were collected without proper receipts or transparency.

Adding to the gravity of the allegations, parents have raised questions about the school's legal status itself. They claim the institution may be operating without proper recognition from education authorities, which if proven would make its fee collection and certificate issuance entirely unauthorized.

The petitioners have urged the District Magistrate to conduct a thorough probe into three key areas: the school's official recognition status, the legality of its fee structure and collection practices, and its withholding of educational records. They have demanded strict action against the management if violations are confirmed. The case highlights ongoing concerns about regulatory oversight of private educational institutions in smaller towns and districts across Uttar Pradesh.
