The District Magistrate of Shravasti has launched the 9th National Nutrition Month campaign by flagging off an awareness rally from the Collectorate premises, marking the beginning of a month-long initiative aimed at improving nutritional standards among children, adolescent girls and women across the district.

District Magistrate Annapurna Garg and Chief Development Officer Shahid Ahmad jointly inaugurated the National Nutrition Month campaign by flagging off the awareness rally at the Collectorate complex. The campaign, which commenced today, will continue from 9 September to 8 October 2026, spanning a full month of intensive activities and outreach.

The campaign is being implemented across the state on the directions of the Honourable Chief Minister of the state, under the vision of the Honourable Prime Minister of the country for a "Suposhit Bharat" or well-nourished India. This year marks the ninth edition of the National Nutrition Month campaign being conducted in the state.

Speaking on the occasion, the District Magistrate said that National Nutrition Month is observed every year in the month of September with the objective of improving nutritional levels among children, adolescent girls and women, and ensuring public participation in this effort. She announced that the theme for this year's National Nutrition Month has been designated as "Hamari Anganwadi, Hamari Zimmedari" (Our Anganwadi, Our Responsibility).

The District Magistrate emphasised that a comprehensive effort is required to make the Nutrition Month programme successful. Under the Poshan Abhiyan, improvement in nutritional standards will be carried out by focusing on children below six years of age, pregnant women, lactating mothers and adolescent girls. Distribution of nutrition-related publicity material and supplementary nutrition will be undertaken, and a campaign will be conducted for identification of SAM (Severely Acute Malnourished) and MAM (Moderately Acute Malnourished) children.

She further stated that instructions have been issued to all concerned departments in this regard. In addition, yoga and AYUSH activities will be organised, including yoga sessions focusing on children, adolescent girls and women. Nutrition-related publicity material and supplementary nutrition will also be distributed during these sessions.

Present on the occasion were Sub Divisional Magistrate Praveen Yadav, District Programme Officer Arvind Rastogi, UNICEF representative Anurag Singh, along with other health partners, Anganwadi workers and women participants.
