Shravasti DM's surprise inspection finds critical staff shortage at health centre

Shravasti District Magistrate Annapurna Garg conducted a surprise inspection of the Community Health Centre in Gilhaula late evening to assess the functioning of healthcare facilities. The unannounced visit aimed to check the ground-level delivery of government health services to patients in the district.

During the inspection, the DM examined multiple facilities including the outpatient department, delivery room, maternity and child ward, and the newborn stabilization unit. She reviewed the availability of essential medical infrastructure and the quality of care being provided to patients seeking treatment at the centre.

Only two staff nurses and one doctor were found present on duty at the time of the inspection. The DM expressed concern over staff attendance and warned that strict action would be taken against doctors and paramedical personnel found absent from their assigned duties. She emphasized that such lapses compromise patient care and undermine public trust in government health facilities.

Garg issued clear instructions to ensure better treatment for patients and directed officials to provide government health services in a transparent manner. Special attention was ordered for the delivery room and maternity ward to ensure that patients, particularly pregnant women and newborns, face no difficulties or inconvenience during their stay.

The surprise inspection is part of ongoing efforts by the district administration to strengthen healthcare delivery in Shravasti. Such checks are intended to improve accountability among health workers and ensure that government facilities operate efficiently to serve the local population, especially vulnerable groups such as expectant mothers and children who rely heavily on public health infrastructure.
