Shravasti CMO conducts surprise hospital inspection, finds duty roster confusion

Chief Medical Officer Dr Ashok Kumar Singh of Shravasti district carried out a surprise inspection of the Combined District Hospital and Community Health Centre (CHC) Lakshmanpur to assess the quality and readiness of health services being provided to the public.

The inspection was conducted with the objective of ensuring accessible and transparent medical facilities to the general public along with maternal and child health security. During the inspection, various health programmes were reviewed in detail, and officials and staff present on site were given clear directives to deliver hundred percent service with complete dedication.

At the Combined District Hospital, the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan (PMSMA) day was being observed. ANM Vijay Lakshmi, LT Suresh Kumar and Pharmacist Sahdev Kumar Pathak were found present at their duties with full commitment. However, a confusion arose due to double rostering in duty allocation. Staff Nurse Neetu Bansal's duty had been assigned, but trainee Preeti Mishra was found on duty instead. The matter was later regularised and Neetu Bansal's presence was ensured in a proper manner.

During the inspection of the Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre (NRC), all doctors and staff were found alert. All beds at the Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre were found fully occupied, which reflects the institution's dedication towards malnutrition management and patient care.

The Chief Medical Officer also conducted an on-site inspection of the Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Day (VHSND) session being held at Bhujanga village panchayat in Sirsia, which falls under the Durgapur KP sub-centre. ANM Beena Verma and ASHA worker Uma Devi were found working at the site, while Anganwadi worker Anita remained absent.

Against a due list of 15 pregnant women and 28 children at the session, the vaccination process was found to be proceeding on a priority basis. The Chief Medical Officer motivated the public present at the site to get girls up to the age of 14 years vaccinated with the Human Papilloma Virus or HPV vaccine, which provides protection against cervical cancer. All necessary medicines, vaccines and medical equipment were found available in adequate and proper quantity at the session site.

The surprise inspection of CHC Lakshmanpur revealed that by 1:15 pm, 130 patients had already been registered in the OPD and all of them had been distributed free medicines. Pharmacist Devesh, Tilak Pandey and Dental Hygienist Brijesh Vishwakarma were on approved leave, which was found sanctioned as per rules on the Manav Sampada Portal.

Dr Khurshid Ahmad was found absent from duty at the site. The CHC Superintendent has been directed to obtain clarification regarding his absence. The rest of the entire staff was found alert at their respective duties.

At the conclusion of the inspection, the Chief Medical Officer made it clear that under the National Health Mission, hundred percent vaccination, maternal and child safety, and providing immediate medical services to the general public is the topmost priority of the government. Strict action will be taken as per rules against staff members who show negligence in their work, while health workers doing excellent work will also be honoured.

The inspection emphasised special focus on the quality and responsiveness of health services. The Chief Medical Officer stressed that with full dedication and proper duty allocation, maternal and child health security can be ensured and the common people can be provided accessible and transparent medical facilities.
