Senior Hindu priest receives death threat over music during Ujjain religious procession

A senior priest and national leader of a prominent Hindu religious organization has received a death threat over music played during a religious procession in Ujjain district, Madhya Pradesh.

Mahant Mohan Bharti, who serves as the national president of Panchdashnam Juna Akhada and is the head priest of the ancient Tilbhandeshwar temple in Tarana, received the threat on the temple's official social media page. The threatening message warns him against playing music in front of a mosque during a procession scheduled for Monday.

The Tilbhandeshwar ancient Shiva temple in Tarana organizes religious processions during the months of Sawan and Bhadau. Processions have been taken out for the past four Mondays. The final procession is scheduled for 7 September, and the threat was issued ahead of this event.

The threat appears to be linked to a video from a previous procession that went viral on social media. The video showed the procession passing in front of a mosque with music playing. A social media user with the ID akram_1414 posted abusive comments about the music in the viral video, stating that music should not be played in front of the mosque. Several other users also reacted to the post with threatening language.

This is not the first time Mahant Mohan Bharti has received such threats, with the report indicating he has been threatened previously as well.
