Sambhal Police Return Woman's Jewellery Bag Found At Nehru Chowk

In Sambhal district, police returned a bag full of valuables to a woman after it was found unattended at Nehru Chowk in Gunaur on 21.09.2026. The incident has been described as an example of honesty and humanity from the Gunaur police station area.

According to the information, the woman had gone shopping and, in a hurry, forgot her bag at Nehru Chowk, Gunaur. The bag contained gold and silver jewellery, expensive watches, new clothes, a mobile phone and other household items.

After some time, local resident Rakesh, son of Kishan Lal, a resident of Mohalla Munda, Kasba Gunaur, noticed the unclaimed bag while passing through the area. When he opened the bag and saw the valuable items inside, he did not give in to greed. Showing honesty, he immediately took the bag to Police Chowki Kasba Gunaur and handed it over to the police.

As soon as the information was received, the Gunaur police station team acted promptly. Sub-Inspector Shyogesh Kumar, Head Constable Sonveer and Constable Sunil Kumar began collecting information to identify the owner of the bag.

With the sustained efforts of the police team, the real owner of the bag was traced. After verification, the entire bag, along with all the items kept inside it, was safely returned to the woman. On getting back her lost belongings, the woman expressed gratitude to the police and to the honest citizen who had handed over the bag.

The police action was described as a humane and commendable effort, and it strengthened public trust in the police.

Taking note of the entire incident, Superintendent of Police, Sambhal, Vikas Chandra Tripathi, honoured the honest citizen Rakesh and the police team members who carried out the commendable work. Sub-Inspector Yogesh Kumar, Head Constable Sonveer and Constable Sunil Kumar were given commendation certificates.

The Superintendent of Police praised their honest and exemplary conduct and appreciated the role played by both the citizen and the police personnel in ensuring that the valuables were returned safely to their rightful owner.
