Sambhal markets buzz with Janmashtami shoppers despite 25 percent price rise

Markets in Sambhal came alive with festive cheer as the town gears up for Shri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations, with shops witnessing a surge in footfall and sales.

Stores selling clothes for Laddu Gopal idols, crowns, flutes, garlands, decorative items and cradles have been decked up across the market. Prices of these items have increased compared to last year.

Devotees are thronging shops and making brisk purchases to decorate and adorn their Kanha idols for Janmashtami. Clothes for Lord Shri Krishna, flutes, crowns and attractive cradles are available at the markets.

According to shopkeepers, the crowd of devotees coming for shopping is increasing in the evening hours. German crowns and fancy garlands are in highest demand. One shopkeeper said that prices of clothes have increased by around 25 percent this time compared to last year. Despite this, sales in the market are good ahead of Janmashtami.
