Rakesh Tikait accuses Muzaffarnagar administration of massive corruption, civic collapse

Rakesh Tikait, national spokesperson of the Bharatiya Kisan Union, has launched a scathing attack on the local administration and municipal corporation over persistent waterlogging and civic mismanagement in Muzaffarnagar. Tikait stated bluntly that the city's drainage system has completely collapsed and corruption has reached its peak.

Tikait alleged that while drains are being constructed in the city, the excavated soil is not even removed. Slabs are laid over the drains, leaving the mud inside, which creates waterlogging across the entire city. He also questioned the replacement of old, sturdy poles and lights with mesh poles, claiming that hundreds of crores of rupees are being swindled in this process. According to him, all the money is being diverted through billing and paper tenders.

Taking a sharp swipe at the administration, Tikait cited the example of the Kisan Bhavan being built in Sisauli, where accounts for 38 lakh rupees remain unsubmitted to this day. He asked pointedly that if contractors and officials can together embezzle 38 lakh rupees meant for a Kisan Bhavan, what might they be doing with the entire city's budget.

Tikait said no one has the courage to speak out against corruption, and everyone is swallowing public money. Dismissing the government's claims of zero tolerance toward corruption, he said no action is being taken on the ground and everything is being settled in cash. He added that if anyone raises their voice against this mismanagement and corruption, they face counter-action instead.

The farmer leader's remarks have put a spotlight on governance failures and alleged large-scale financial irregularities in Muzaffarnagar's civic administration.
