Pratapgarh police intensify manhunt for absconding accused in dowry case

Police in Pratapgarh district have intensified action against Mohammad Anish Nawab Ali son of Nawab Ali alias Jumman, a resident of village Golapur under Kandhai police station area, who has been absconding in a non-bailable warrant case. Acting under section 82 on court orders, the police executed a comprehensive operation to locate and compel the accused to surrender before the court.

According to police sources, the Hon'ble FTC First Court Pratapgarh had issued a non-bailable warrant against the accused in case number 8849/20, crime number 35/14, registered under sections 498A, 323, 504, 506 IPC and sections 3/4 of the Dowry Prohibition Act at Mahila Thana Pratapgarh. In pursuance of this warrant, a police team reached village Golapur on 08 September 2026 to trace the absconding accused.

During the operation, the police team pasted court proclamation notices at the accused's residence as well as at prominent locations across the village. Additionally, the police conducted a loudspeaker announcement drive throughout the village, moving from place to place with musical instruments to ensure maximum reach, informing residents and directing the accused to present himself before the court.

Police officials stated that the accused has been continuously on the run and evasive. They confirmed that persistent efforts are being made to secure his arrest. Following this action taken in compliance with court orders, police have further tightened the noose around the absconding accused, intensifying measures to bring him to justice.
