Man arrested with five illegal bombs in Pratapgarh police operation

Lalganj Police in Pratapgarh district have arrested a 25-year-old man after recovering five illegal country-made sutli bombs from his possession. The accused was apprehended during a checking drive conducted on the intervening night of 13 and 14 September following a tip-off from an informer.

The arrested man has been identified as Jitendra Yadav alias Jeetu, son of Ramchandra Yadav, a resident of Matiyari Dagrara under Lalganj police station limits. He was detained near Madna Ka Noor Udharnpur culvert during the police operation. Besides the explosives, a Vivo Android mobile phone was also seized from the accused during the search.

The checking operation was carried out under the direction of Superintendent of Police Pratapgarh Deepak Bhukar and the supervision of Circle Officer Lalganj. Police teams were conducting checks on suspicious persons and vehicles across the police station area when they acted on the informer's intelligence to intercept Jitendra Yadav. During the personal search, five country-made sutli bombs wrapped in white paper and one Vivo Android mobile phone were recovered from him.

Based on the recovery, a case numbered 359/2026 has been registered at Lalganj police station under sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Substances Act. Legal proceedings against the accused have been initiated.

Police disclosed that the arrested accused has an extensive criminal history. Several cases are already registered against him in various police stations of Raebareli district, including charges of theft, recovery, fraud, forgery and the Arms Act. Additionally, a case under the Gangster Act is also registered against him at Lalganj police station.

The police team that carried out the operation included Sub-Inspector Ram Naresh, Sub-Inspector Gyanachandra Tiwari, Sub-Inspector Banwari Lal Pal, Constable Neeraj Kumar, Rahul Yadav and Alok Kumar.
