Pratapgarh Police Arrest Man After Allegedly Recovering 1.15 Kg Cannabis

Kunda police in Uttar Pradesh’s Pratapgarh district have arrested a man after allegedly recovering 1 kilo 150 grams of illegal cannabis from his possession. The police action was carried out near a mango orchard in Barai village.

The arrest was made as part of an ongoing campaign against crime and criminals in the district. Police have registered a case against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and started further legal proceedings.

According to the police, on 16 October 2026, Sub-Inspector Chandrabali Singh and Sub-Inspector Mohammad Yunus were checking suspicious people and vehicles in the area along with a police team. During the checking operation, the team reached near the mango orchard in Barai village, which falls under Kunda police station.

The police arrested Suresh Patel, 48, son of Malikram and a resident of Radda Ka Purwa in Barai, under Kunda police station. During the search, 1 kilo 150 grams of cannabis was allegedly recovered from his possession.

In connection with the case, an FIR has been registered at Kunda police station under case number 392/2026. The case has been filed under sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act.

Police said further legal action is being taken in the matter. The team involved in the operation included Sub-Inspector Chandrabali Singh, Sub-Inspector Mohammad Yunus, Constable Amit Giri and Constable Aryan Gupta.
