The Thath-Neri-Jukhala road under Sikroha panchayat in Bilaspur district, Himachal Pradesh, has developed potholes at several points, causing considerable difficulty for vehicle drivers and local villagers who use the route for daily travel.
The poor condition of the road has led local residents to appeal to the Public Works Department (PWD) and the state government for immediate repairs. The potholes are making movement along the route difficult and have become a major concern for people travelling through the area.
Villagers of Sikroha panchayat use this road to travel to Bilaspur and Shimla. With the road surface damaged at several places, those who depend on the route are facing problems during regular travel. The condition of the road becomes even worse during the rainy season, when vehicle drivers face the risk of accidents.
Sikroha panchayat Deputy Pradhan Roop Lal Verma said PWD officials had been informed several times about the poor condition of the road. However, repair work has not been carried out so far.
Roop Lal Verma appealed to the department to repair the road at the earliest so that villagers could get relief from the problems they are facing. He said the damaged road was creating difficulties for people who depend on it for travelling between the panchayat and Bilaspur and Shimla.
Local villagers have also appealed to the state government and the Public Works Department to ensure that the repair work is taken up soon. They said people who travel on the road every day are being forced to face difficulties because of its poor condition.
The villagers have specifically raised concern over the potholes spread across the road. The damaged stretches are affecting movement for both vehicle drivers and other people using the route.
PWD Executive Engineer Achhar Singh Chauhan said instructions had been issued to the concerned Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) to arrange machinery and labour for the repair work at the earliest.
Achhar Singh Chauhan assured that the repair work on the Thath-Neri-Jukhala road would be completed within one week. The assurance has come after repeated appeals from the Sikroha panchayat residents for action on the damaged road.
