PM Modi promotes India as a global tech and AI leader at VivaTech 2026

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday presented India's technological advancements and innovation ecosystem at VivaTech 2026 in Paris, positioning the nation as a global hub for artificial intelligence, digital public infrastructure, and technology-driven growth.

Addressing Europe's largest technology event, PM Modi highlighted India's rapid strides in digital transformation, its flourishing startup ecosystem, and expanding partnerships with Europe. He invited global businesses to collaborate with India, emphasizing the significance of the recently concluded India-European Union Free Trade Agreement in boosting trade, investment, and collaboration in talent, technology, and tourism.

The Prime Minister also announced the launch of the India-France Year of Innovation, describing France as a vital link between the technology ecosystems of India and Europe.

During his address, PM Modi showcased India's achievements in building large-scale digital public infrastructure over the past decade. He highlighted the world's largest digital identity system and India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI), which accounts for nearly half of the world's real-time digital transactions and is now operational in France, including at iconic locations such as the Eiffel Tower and Paris airport. Additionally, he pointed to DigiLocker as one of the world's largest digital document wallet platforms, underscoring India's use of technology to drive financial inclusion, education, healthcare, and agriculture.

Focusing on artificial intelligence, PM Modi outlined India's vision for AI to benefit all, stating, "For India, AI means All Inclusive." He emphasized India's commitment to leveraging AI to improve lives and reduce inequalities, while highlighting the country's role as the AI Country Partner at VivaTech 2026.

The Prime Minister also detailed India's efforts to support private enterprise and innovation, including targeted incentives exceeding $50 billion. He noted India's advantages, such as affordable data services and low-cost green energy, which make the country an attractive destination for investment and scaling operations. Encouraging collaboration, he said, "Our government will enable and industry will innovate. Startups will disrupt and global partners will scale with us."

Concluding his address, PM Modi called for deeper international partnerships, inviting global technology leaders to work with India in developing solutions that deliver widespread benefits.
