Pakistan Cricket Board Unveils New Reward Plan for Players

NEW DELHI: Pakistan's centrally contracted cricketers are set to benefit from substantial pay increases under the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) revamped contract system for the 2026-27 cycle. Players in the newly introduced red-ball Track A category are expected to see the most significant financial gains.

A PCB source revealed that the draft contracts for the upcoming cycle have been finalised by a committee that includes white-ball head coach Mike Hesson and red-ball head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed. The new structure places a strong emphasis on rewarding players who regularly participate in Test cricket.

Under the revised system, Test cricketers in the red-ball Track A category are expected to receive match fees of approximately 1.5 million PKR, a notable increase from the previous 800,000 PKR. Additionally, their monthly retainers are projected to be around 4 million PKR before taxes.

For the first time, the PCB has introduced format-specific central contracts, with players in both Track A (Test cricket) and Track B (white-ball formats) expected to be among the highest earners. These players are likely to receive monthly retainers ranging between 4.8 and 5 million PKR, alongside their match fees.
