Preparations for Durga Puja are gathering pace in Pratapgarh, where grand idols of Maa Durga are being made at the Chilbila Hanuman Temple complex. Artists who have come from Kolkata (Bengal) are working to give the idols their final shape.

The idol-making work is progressing quickly at the temple परिसर, with Durga idols of different sizes and designs being prepared. The artists are currently engaged in completing the detailed work on the idols before they are given their final appearance.

According to the artisans, the work of making the idols is started nearly four and a half months before Durga Puja. This year, idols of Maa Durga ranging from 5 feet to 13 feet in height are being prepared at the complex.

A team of 9 skilled artists from Bengal has been working continuously on the idols. The artisans said that black soil from the Ganga is used specially for making the idols. After this, the idols are painted and decorated to give them an attractive look.

The artisans said the prices of the idols start at 13 thousand rupees and go up to around one lakh rupees. The price of each idol is decided on the basis of its size, design and decoration.

As Durga Puja draws closer, the idol-making work at the Chilbila Hanuman Temple complex is expected to become even faster. The artists are continuing their work on the different idols so that they can be completed in time for the festival.
