Preparations for Sharadiya Navratri and Durga Puja have picked up in Amethi, with sculptors working to give the final touches to idols of Maa Durga. Navratri is scheduled to begin on 11 October.

In Jalalpur, located in the Gauriganj area of Amethi district, sculptors are working day and night to complete the idols and give them an attractive appearance. As the festival draws closer, the work of finishing and decorating the idols has also gained pace.

Ramkhelar, a sculptor and resident of Jalalpur, said that clay used to make the idols of Maa Durga is brought from ponds. The idols are then prepared through hard work and detailed craftsmanship.

He said the idols made at his place are not only beautiful but also affordable. The idols are decorated and refined in such a way that devotees feel they are seeing a lifelike image of Maa Durga when they have darshan.

According to sculptor Ramkhelar, the idols of Maa Durga made at his place are available for prices ranging from 6500 to 7500 rupees. With Navratri now approaching, sculptors are busy completing the remaining work on the idols.

The sculptors hope that demand for the idols will increase during the festival. Their focus is currently on completing the idols on time and giving them the final decorative touches before Navratri begins.
