Thousands of people using Madhya Pradesh Housing Board properties for commercial activities in violation of lease conditions have received major relief. The Commissioner of the Madhya Pradesh Home Construction and Infrastructure Development Board has suspended all ongoing action in lease violation cases until further orders.
The Commissioner issued a letter from Bhopal directing that the action being taken against such violations be kept on hold. The order is expected to provide relief to people who have been facing notices over the commercial use of houses in Housing Board colonies.
In Ujjain, residents of Kanipura Road, Indira Nagar and several other Housing Board colonies have welcomed the decision. Thousands of people living in these colonies had been carrying out trade and other business activities from Housing Board houses for a long time.
Those who had received notices for allegedly violating lease conditions were worried about the action. With the latest order, they will be able to continue their trade and business activities as before until further orders.
The letter was issued by Commissioner Gautam Singh on 01/10/2026 under number 698-9/स.प्र.शा./मुख्यालय/2026. It was sent to the estate officers and executive engineers of all the listed regions and divisions of the state.
The letter was sent to the regions of Bhopal, Gwalior, Indore, Jabalpur and the divisions of Bhopal, Sagar, Gwalior, Morena, Guna, Indore, Dhar, Khandwa, Ujjain, Ratlam, Jabalpur, Katni, Chhindwara, Chhatarpur, Rewa, Satna, Singrauli, Balaghat, Shahdol and Damoh.
The letter states that action is being taken according to the prescribed procedure in cases involving violations of the lease conditions granted by the Board.
However, it also says that in cases involving the Board’s assets where a change in land use can be regularised under a new land-use or urban development plan, a committee has been formed in line with the provisions prescribed in the Madhya Pradesh Nazul Land Disposal Instructions.
The committee will provide suggestions and recommend a procedure for the regularisation of such cases. In view of this process, the ongoing action in lease violation cases has been ordered to remain suspended until further orders.
