Mother and son rescued from collapsed mud house in Kanpur Dehat after heavy rains

A mother and son were trapped under debris after the roof of their mud house collapsed during heavy rainfall in Kanpur Dehat district, triggering panic in the village. Both sustained serious injuries in the incident that took place in Baina village under the Rajpur development block area.

Family members and neighbours immediately launched a rescue operation and managed to pull out both victims from the rubble. The injured were rushed to the Primary Health Centre in Rajpur where they received emergency medical treatment. The mother, identified as Priyanka, suffered critical injuries and remains admitted at the health facility where doctors are providing ongoing treatment for her condition.

Her son, who also sustained injuries in the collapse, was treated at the centre and later discharged to return home after his condition stabilised. Officials said the timely intervention by locals helped avert a major tragedy, as any delay in the rescue could have proved fatal given the severity of the roof collapse.

The incident has been formally reported to the revenue official and the tehsil administration. Local authorities have been informed about the collapse and the extent of damage caused by the heavy rains. The Rajpur block administration is expected to assess the situation and provide assistance to the affected family.

The collapse highlights the vulnerability of kutcha houses during the monsoon season, when heavy downpours often weaken mud structures. Such incidents are common in rural areas where many families continue to live in homes with weak roofing that cannot withstand prolonged rainfall.
